Exhibition - December 2025

Kulvinder Kaur Dhew. 'Beyond The Visual - Experiencing The Landscape' Sugar Maples Center For Creative Arts. Catskill Mountain Foundation. 2025

Kulvinder Kaur Dhew utilizes charcoal on paper, sometimes integrating reflective glitter, to explore complex themes of climate change, documentation, and the passage of time. Her work investigates dynamic natural phenomena—including storms, waterfalls, clouds, and skies through a metaphoric quantum lens, capturing the flux and flow of landscapes both real (from the Catskills, NY and Wyoming) and imagined. The resulting drawings challenges viewers to look beyond the visual and experience the landscape in its raw, transitional state.

A highlight of the opening was an Artist Talk by Kulvinder Kaur Dhew, commencing at 2:00 PM, providing unique insight into her process, her use of charcoal and glitter to reference the ephemeral, the documented, the quantum concepts underpinning her interpretation of nature.

The public was invited to attend the Opening Reception on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Sugar Maples center For Creative Arts, a program of the Catskill Mountain Foundation

The Catskill Mountain Foundation is a vibrant cultural hub in the Catskills region, offering programs that support both local and international artists.

This project was made possible with funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York Legislature and administered by CREATE Council on the Arts.
